A Westchester man may spend the rest of his life behind bars after pistol-whipping a woman and her son during a violent armed robbery last year when he got bit in the face, leading to his arrest. Mount Vernon resident Sidney Lane, 37, was found guilty of two counts of attempted robbery, violent felonies, for an incident in Yonkers last July, when he attacked a woman and her 23-year-old son in their home.

‘Sexually Violent’ Offender Reports Move To Yonkers From County Jail

A registered "sexually violent" offender convicted of forcibly touching his victim without consent and a previous rape conviction has reported a move in Westchester County. The New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services issued an alert this week to Westchester residents regarding the residency of 57-year-old Jack Williams, who was in the Westchester County Jail but has reported a move to Livingston Road in Yonkers.

Toxic mold discovery prompts evacuation, closure of Yonkers school

Ceiling tiles in parts of Yonkers Public Schools' Paideia School 15 tested positive for mold after samples of tiles were taking for testing on the weekend. "Our Paideia School 15 family has been notified of the emergency maintenance situation and the students and faculty all have been safely evacuated to our designed emergency location," said Dr. Edwin M. Quezada, Superintendent of Schools.
