YONKERS, NY, Friday, March 2, 2018 - The wind and the snow and the rain and all that other fun stuff has forced Yonkers Raceway to cancel Friday's night live racing program. Evening simulcasting has also been scrapped, though afternoon simulcasting is available until approximately 6 PM.

One Dangerous Coyote At Large, Another Killed In Southern Westchester

While one coyote has been dealt with in Yonkers after attacking several people and killing a small dog in Greenburgh, police are warning about a second that they are tracking down who could be a danger in the area. The Yonkers Police Department issued an alert late on Thursday evening about the coyote, which remains at large, as members of the Emergency Service Unit work with members of the Westchester Department of Public Safety in an attempt to locate it.

Residents in Hastings Area Warned: a oeAggressive Coyotea on Prowl

The Westchester County Department of Health is alerting residents that a coyote has attacked people and pets in the vicinity of Kent Ave, Overlook Drive and Clarewood Drive in Hastings-on-Hudson and the Homefield section of Yonkers. The Health Department is notifying residents in the area to not approach the animal, to contact police if they see it and to take precautions with pets.

Coyote Ugly: New Westchester Attack Reported

A new coyote attack has been reported in Westchester County, after the animal took a swipe at a woman riding her bike in Yonkers on Thursday afternoon, according to multiple reports. A coyote lunged at the woman riding on the Westchester County Bike Trail near Tuckahoe Road in Yonkers shortly before 3 p.m. on Thursday, March 1. The attack comes on the heels of three other coyote attacks that have been reported in two days in Hastings-on-Hudson and Yonkers.

Board Names Middle School Math Chair

Tiffany Sassone, an assistant principal and coordinator of the Math Science Partnership Project in Yonkers, will become the next middle school math department chairperson in New Rochelle on March 7. Sassone was hired Tuesday by the New Rochelle Board of Education to replace John Pratt, who retired. She will maintain the math instructional program, review curriculum materials and supervise the quality of math instruction, among other duties, at Albert Leonard and Isaac E. Young middle schools.

Yonkers Demands End To I-87 Tolls
