Traffic was tied up on the Bronx River Parkway during Thursday's morning commute when a van flew off the Cross County overpass in Yonkers, coming to a crashing half below. The driver of a van was hospitalized with minor injuries after he was driving up the westbound ramp of the Cross County Parkway shortly before 6:30 a.m. when he lost control on the curved roadway, went through the guardrail, off the edge and landed in the median of the Bronx River Parkway, police said.

Former Westchester Doctor Charged With Stealing $500K From Woman

A 69-year-old former physician has been charged with grand larceny for stealing more than $500,000 from a 97-year-old woman, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. Peter Corines of Eastchester was charged Tuesday following an investigation into the theft which took place during a two-week period in November 2017, the DA's office said. The felony complaint against Corines says that the former doctor stole from Bernice Judd Porter of Yonkers by falsely claiming to be her power of attorney or pretending to be her on the phone or online with numerous financial institutions where the victim had accounts, the DA's office said.
