A 47-year-old man is facing a series of charges after being arraigned on a five-count indictment for allegedly swindling a trio of Westchester victims out of their life savings, and temporarily fleeing to Spain to avoid prosecution, officials announced on Friday. John Nemec of Yonkers has been charged with grand larceny for allegedly "conspiring and engaging in a fraudulent investment scheme to steal more than $190,000 from his victims," Westchester County District Attorney said.

Man Pleads Guilty In Crash That Killed Yonkers Teen, Injured Boyfriend

The driver of a BMW that crashed on Central Avenue last summer has pleaded guilty to his role in the fatal crash that killed 19-year-old Nina Cordero in Yonkers and injured her boyfriend. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Thursday that Yonkers resident Renzo Yance, 22, has pleaded guilty to a felony count of manslaughter for his role in the Aug. 26 crash last year that took the lives of his two passengers when he rolled his BMW M5 while speeding.

Pair Caught With Heroin, Cocaine, Crack In Westchester Drug Dealing Bust

Two accused drug dealers are behind bars after they were nabbed with large amounts of heroin, cocaine, crack, marijuana and cash following an investigation by the Greenburgh Drug & Alcohol Task Force. Michael Matsoukas, 26, and Richard Hoffer, 30 -- both of Yonkers -- were arrested just before 6 p.m. and found to be in possession of 25 bags of powder cocaine, over 20 twists of crack, 75 bags of heroin, $338 cash, 50 bags of marijuana and cannabis oil.

Alert Issued For Grassy Sprain Brook Sewage Discharge

Hundreds of gallons of untreated waste was discharged near the Grassy Sprain Brook Reservoir on Thursday afternoon when a private sewer backed up. The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation issued an alert shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 26, stating that there was a discharge emanating from a manhole in a nearby stream bed at 1500 Central Park Avenue in Yonkers.
