Former Westchester Doctor Charged With Stealing $500K From Woman

A 69-year-old former physician has been charged with grand larceny for stealing more than $500,000 from a 97-year-old woman, according to Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino, Jr. Peter Corines of Eastchester was charged Tuesday following an investigation into the theft which took place during a two-week period in November 2017, the DA's office said. The felony complaint against Corines says that the former doctor stole from Bernice Judd Porter of Yonkers by falsely claiming to be her power of attorney or pretending to be her on the phone or online with numerous financial institutions where the victim had accounts, the DA's office said.

The 37th Senate District covers the cities of New Rochelle, Rye, White Plains, Yonkers and the towns of Bedford, Harrison, Mamaroneck, North Castle, Rye, Eastchester.

A pregnant Chinatown woman fatally stabbed her co-worker Tuesday in a midday attack in the kitchen of a quaint Hudson River town restaurant, police said. Rosa Ramirez, 27, who has two open criminal cases against her in Brooklyn, grabbed a butcher knife in the River City Grille in Irvington, Westchester County just before noon and repeatedly plunged it into the chest of Bonifacio Rodriguez, 39, a married father of two from Yonkers, according to law enforcement sources.
