Mayor Mike Spano basically has the support from both parties and most political insiders are predicting a landslide against Mario De Giorgio.
Mayor Spano may face a primary challenge from Ivy Reeves and Karen Beltran, but many city hall insiders wonder if either one can successfully collect the required number of signatures to get on the ballot
Universally, Yonkers politicians are predicting that the mayor has this third term race in the bag, as many city employees will start volunteering to collect signatures on his behalf tomorrow.
Sadly, the Republican party under the leadership of Chairman Justin Tubiolo has not been able to field a city wide candidate since Liam McLaughlin last won the City Council President’s seat
Worse yet the Republican have lost control of the city council and if another Republican seat is lost on Chairman Justin Tubiolo’s watch, the mayor and the democrats will have a super majority.

YONKERS EVENT: Irish Concert On Sunday March 3rd At The Yonkers Montessori Academy At 160 Woodlawn Avenue
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Yonkers Congressman Eliot Engel, the Chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, addressed students from all over the country at the 2019 Global Engagement Summit held at the United Nations in New York City
PRESS RELEASE: The Global Engagement Summit is the largest annual gathering of UN supporters in the U.S., bringing together over 1,500 college students and other UNA-USA (United Nations Association of the United States) leaders to explore the vital mission and work of the UN. Eliot Engel delivered the keynote address in the General Assembly Hall at UN headquarters.
QUOTE: “I’m so happy to stand here before a future generation of public servants and thinkers—the people who will claim the mantle of leadership and carry on the work of building a safer, more prosperous world,” Eliot Engel said in his remarks. “I’m grateful for your commitment.”
Eliot Engel’s speech addressed the role the United States and UN play in addressing global challenges, with a particular focus on ending the crisis in Yemen.
“Even as the most powerful country in the world, we can accomplish a great deal more when we partner with other countries rather than go it alone,” Eliot Engel said. “By working together through the United Nations, the UN becomes a critical instrument in addressing some of our global challenges.
“If you’ve been tracking Congress’s work the last few weeks, you know the House just passed legislation that would dial back America’s involvement in the war in Yemen. This war is such a heartbreaking catastrophe. Every month, the UN’s World Food Program feeds more than 7.9 million Yemenis,” Eliot Engel said
“UNICEF is helping children cope with the unimaginable horrors of living in the midst of conflict. And UNHCR continues to build shelters and run community centers for displaced Yemenis. These efforts alone won’t resolve this crisis. But without the UN—backed by governments around the world that want to see a political solution to the violence in Yemen—these glimmers of light would surely go dark.”
Following the event, Eliot Engel met with United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres to discuss a host of international issues, including the critical need to address climate change.
Eliot Engel believes the U.S. should be the global leader in reducing carbon emissions and developing a green economy.
NY POLITICS: Republican Representative in New York discovers one simple trick to give the GOP more Senators and get rid of Yonkers’ Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins
New York state senator introduces study to look at breaking state into Upstate and Downstate
Daphne Jordan, a Republican from upstate New York, wants a new state formed
Sen. Daphne Jordan is dividing the Empire State into two sides — literally. Jordan introduced a bill last week that would study the feasibility of breaking New York into two separate states: Upstate and Downstate.
New York would include all the five boroughs of New York City, as well us downstate areas such as Yonkers Mount Vernon and Long Island.
The rest of the state should be West New York.
The two regions have long been at odds with each other on many things — politically, economically and even football teams (Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets or Giants).

YONKERS IDOL: Hey, How Old Is That Yonkers Born Gal Lady Gaga? Read Her Complete Bio and Learn Her Age Here
When Oscar nominee Lady Gaga showed up at the 2019 Screen Actors Guild Awards in January, she exuded such old-school Hollywood glamour, one might have mistaken her for a starlet from another time.
The A Star is Born actress wowed the crowd in a slit-down-to-there white Dior gown that belied her true age.
But, just how old is Lady Gaga?
Lady Gaga’s musical journey started at a young age
Lady Gaga was born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta in Yonkers, New York. Her dad, Joseph Anthony Germanotta, was an internet entrepreneur.
Her mom, Cynthia Louise, noticed her daughter’s remarkable musical talent at a very young age.
By the time Gaga was 4 years old, she was already picking out songs on the family piano.
At age 11, the talented youngster was accepted to the prestigious Juilliard School in New York but opted to attend a private Catholic school in Manhattan instead.
She focused on her music lessons, and at the ripe old age of 14, the young songstress made her first New York nightclub appearance.
Around age 17, Gaga was admitted to New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts where she focused on songwriting while simultaneously issuing intelligent essay analyses of religion, politics, art, and social issues.
Interestingly, she was one of the youngest students ever admitted to the prestigious music school.
When she was 19 years old, Gaga formed her first band and moved out of the family home.
Gaga partnered briefly with talent scout Rob Fusari. With his help – and the inspiration of a Queen song, “Radio Ga-Ga,” she came up with her unique stage name,
Lady Gaga. In 2006, Gaga signed with Def Jam Records, but the label dropped her after a few fruitless months.
Lady Gaga wasn’t an instant success
The discouraged singer moved back in with her folks and tried on a variety of personas. Gaga became infatuated with New York’s nascent neo-burlesque scene and worked for a time as a bikini-clad go-go dancer in a nightclub,
At age 20, Gaga started working at Interscope Records where she wrote songs for other artists on the label, including New Kids on the Block, Pussycat Dolls, and Britney Spears.
She had not given up her job as a burlesque dancer, however, and that’s when R&B singer, Akon, discovered her.
Akon was so impressed with the Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue, he signed the singing dancer to his own label, Kon Live.
It was on this Interscope subsidiary label that Gaga wrote and recorded her first album, The Fame.
The first single from The Fame was a commercial and critical success. “Just Dance” was nominated for a Grammy in 2008 but lost to “Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger” by Daft Punk.
Nonetheless, the record raced up the charts and was immediately followed by another hit single, “Poker Face.”
Both hit songs were co-written by Akon associate, RedOne, and achieved chart-topping acclaim worldwide.
Later that same year, Lady Gaga worked as an opening act for the reformed NKOTB.
She even collaborated with them on a song from the grownup boy band’s album, The Block.
In 2009, Gaga released an eight-song album, “Big Girl Now.”
The following year, The Fame Monster debuted in record stores. 2011 saw the release of Born This Way.
In 2013, Artpop was released with less fanfare than her previous albums.
How old is Lady Gaga today?
If you think this all adds up to massive success, you’re right. What’s even more remarkable is that Lady Gaga managed all of the above before she was 30.
The talented entertainer was born March 28, 1986 and is only 32 years old and still making waves on international music and fashion fronts.

INNER CITY PRESS: Southern District Of New York Jury Finds Bronx Security Guard, That Was Taken To St John’s Hospital In Yonkers Was Beaten By Police
A young man who worked as a security guard hailed a gypsy cab by the 174th Street elevated train station of the 2 and 5 lines to drive him to his girlfriend’s house, sat in the backseat talking with her on Face-time on the way.
Then, as summarized on February 6 in the US District Court for the Southern District of New York, the cab was pulled over on Boston Road by an unmarked New York Police Department car which turned its siren lights on.
The young man, James Hurt Jr., was told to end the phone call and get out of the car. He did, but then he says he got pushed by one officer and then got punched in the face three times by NYPD Sargeant Michael Connizzio.
On February 6 Connizzio’s lawyer in the SDNY courtroom of Judge P. Kevin Castel(who praised both teams of lawyers) denied it was him, saying his only mistake was not signing himself off duty that night.
Earlier they’d argued that the presence of plaintiff’s lawyer Wylie Stecklow at the hospital in Yonkers was somehow suspicious.
But in rebuttal Hurt Jr’s other lawyer Cary London told the jury, I’ve kept something juicy for you.
The 44th precinct where Connizzio worked ran two warrant searches for James Hurt Jr. the day after the incident.
How did they know his name?
His I.D. had been in the gym bag he left in the back of the gypsy cab, that Connizzio had searched.
Was that the checkmate……

THOMAS DINAPOLI: Metro-North Contractor Exceeds Established Standards Of Reaching Out To The Homeless At The Yonkers Train Station
NEW YORK STATE COMPTROLLER: The Metro-North Railroad’s homeless outreach contractor made 148 visits to the Yonkers train station to help homeless people and find them alternative shelter and support services, a state comptroller’s audit.
Metro-North in 2017 hired nonprofit Bowery Residents’ Committee to do outreach at stations.
The New York Comptroller Thomas Dinapoli audited the $2 million five-year contract and questioned whether the contractor was sending the proper amount of outreach workers at other Westchester County train stations.
Outreach workers were supposed to visit each station 96 times in between September 2017 and July 2018 and out performed in Yonkers, but the comptroller’s office found that other stations did not meet this contractual requirement.
For Example:
- 18 outreach visits at Croton-Harmon station.
- 41 visits at the Peekskill station.
- 51 visits at Tarrytown.
- 91 visits at Poughkeepsie
- One visit at Beacon
Metro-North told the comptroller’s office, that going forward it would monitor the contracted outreach workers more closely to insure that they meet their contractual requirements to help the homeless at all Westchester County Train Stations.
