The Group Rep’s Lost in Yonkers Opens Next Week at the Lonny Chapman Theatre

The Group Rep presents Neil Simon 's Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning comedic drama directed by Larry Eisenberg , produced by Doug Haverty . This touching coming-of-age story set in Yonkers, New York, centers around two brothers whose mother has died, who are forced to live with their grandmother and their mentally challenged aunt, while their father travels, desperately trying to scrape together enough money to pay off his debts to a loan shark.

Muslim professor at Catholic school writes Holocaust book

On a recent Friday evening at the Riverdale-Yonkers Society for Ethical Culture, Rabbi Linda Shriner-Cahn and Manhattan College religion professor Mehnaz Afridi sat before worshipers at that evening's Shabbat service to discuss Afridi's new book, "Shoah Through Muslim Eyes." Afridi hopes the book will help create a bridge of conversation between the two faiths of Judaism and Islam as she interviews Holocaust survivors, uses Muslim-Arabs works, covers the reach of the Holocaust under the Vichy and Nazi governments, and discuss anti-Semitism and Islamophobia.

Yonkers woman pleads guilty to stealing $1M from ex employer

A former office assistant for a New York business has pleaded guilty to stealing nearly $1 million from her employer. The Journal News reports that 60-year-old Joann Perrino, of Yonkers, made transfers and wrote checks from her company's account to finance personal purchases.

Pete Lee, Vladimir Caamano Headline Wednesday Comedy Nights In Yonkers

Wisconsin-born television comedy star Pete Lee and Bronx-raised funnyman Vladimir Caamano will headline the two Wednesday Comedy Nights in February at Empire City Casino in Yonkers. Lee will take the stage on Wednesday, Feb. 8, and Caamano's performance will be on Wednesday, Feb. 22. Both shows will take place in the casino's Good Time Room.
