Coyote Sightings Near Yonkers Raceway Spark Residents’ Concerns

Officials in Yonkers have called a meeting as restlessness grows following several coyote sightings near the Yonkers Raceway and Hillview Reservoir. Members of the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation and U.S. Department of Agriculture have scheduled a meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday night at the St. Barnabas Elementary School, where they will discuss the recent sightings, which have left local residents uneasy.

Ex-NYPD Psychologist Admits Shooting Husband To Run Off With Lover

A former top NYPD psychologist pleaded guilty Friday to shooting her husband in the head while he slept during a botched attempt to get rid of him and take up with her Texas lover, officials said. Dr. Emily Dearden, 48, was accused of shooting her husband, Kenneth, a millionaire real estate developer, in their Yonkers home at 4 a.m. Nov. 14, 2013 as he and their children were asleep.

Mount St. Mary College Welcomes Class of 2020

A beautiful Hudson Valley day provided the backdrop for some 1,000 students moving into Mount Saint Mary College on Sunday, August 28. Returning students, about 400 freshmen, and nearly 140 transfer students ascended to the Mount from the tri-state area and beyond. Freshman Christopher Blackwell of Yonkers, N.Y., a human services major, was excited to begin his college career at the Mount.
