22-Year Katonah Resident Ann Cahill Dies At 53

Ann Cahill, a 22-year resident of Katonah, graduate of Horace Greeley Greeley High School and Yonkers native, died on Saturday, Dec. 9. She was 53. Ann was a graduate of Horace Greeley High School, Boston College and Fordham University Law School. Ann will be remembered for her quick wit, keen mind and genuine heart.

Attorney General To Investigate Death Of Yonkers Politician’s Nephew

The state Attorney General'sd Office is taking over the investigation into the death of a Yonkers city official's nephew who died in police custody following an alleged shoplifting incident in Westchester. Jonathan Maldonado, 21 - Yonkers City Council president-elect Mike Khader's nephew - died on Wednesday after being tasered by police in Greenburgh following a struggle with officers.

Yonkers Native Dorothea Spano Dies At 33

Westchester native Dorothea Spano, who lived in the Dutchess County area since she was a child, died on Wednesday, Nov. 15. She was 33. Dorothea, who lived in LaGrange, was born in Yonkers on Oct, 4, 1984. She is survived by her daughter, Olivia Grace; her parents, Leonard and Diane Spano of LaGrange; her sister, Gina Spano of LaGrange; her brother, Anthony Spano of LaGrange; her grandmothers, Dorothy Ciavarello and Cynthia Spano; 23 aunts and uncles; and 36 cousins.

Jackson Sydnor, a Norwalk native and longtime Peekskill, N.Y. resident died Monday, Aug. 14, after a short illness. He was 74. Born in Norwalk on June 28, 1943, Sydnor was raised in Yonkers, N.Y. and was predeceased by his parents, Thomas, Sr. and Lillian , and a brother, Thomas, Jr. He is survived by his life partner Bernice Hull; sisters Mary Fields, Stephanie Smith, Marva Petrus and Claudette Alston; brothers, Norvell Sydnor and Lloyd Sydnor; and brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and an uncle, Lloyd Jackson.
