Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway employees were in the Christmas spirit, joining General Counsel Timothy Rooney Jr. at the inaugural "Wrapped with Love" volunteer event to assist those in need during the holiday season on November 13th in the casino's Good Time Room. The supportive staffers wrapped toys that will be donated to Catholic Charities and the Yonkers-based Aisling Irish Community Center as part of 11th Annual Christmas Spirit Coat & Toy Drive.

25 Suspects Charged In ‘Operation Trick Or Treat’ Westchester Drug Bust

More than two dozen alleged drug dealers and 400 bags of heroin and other drugs are off the street following the "Operation Trick-or-Treat" bust in Westchester, authorities announced Tuesday. Yonkers Police Commissioner Charles Gardner said that during the multi-jurisdictional bust, 25 dealers were apprehended, and undercover officers seized more than 400 bags of heroin, crack cocaine, angel dust and other drugs during the Halloween-themed operation.

Kids can get into the Halloween spirit a little early with a visit to the Cross County Shopping Center's Halloween Spooktacular on Saturday, Oct. 21. The shopping center has planned a day full of fun events giving children and Halloween-loving adults a chance to dress up early and take part in trick-or-treating, arts and crafts, a storytime, dancing, and lots more beginning at 10 a.m. and running through 3:30 p.m. Trick-or-Treating from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. and again from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.

Four Westchester Cities Designated As ‘Hub’ Drug Treatment Courts By DA

Four of the Hudson Valley's largest cities have been designated as "Hub" drug treatment courts by Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. Mount Vernon, New Rochelle, White Plains and Yonkers have been designated as "Hub" Courts, which will make drug treatment courts more accessible to those suffering from substance dependency and military veterans that may be dealing with combat-related disorders and had run-ins with law enforcement. The Westchester County Drug Court Enhancement Project - which will be under the direction of Ninth Judicial District Administrative Judge Alan Scheinkman - is aimed to focus on the needs of those suffering from opioid use disorders and justice-involved military veterans.

Christopher Columbus Statue Restored In Yonkers Park Following Vandalism

Fresh on the heels of Columbus Day holiday celebrations, a statue of Christopher Columbus has been restored in a Yonkers park after it was vandalized in August. Yonkers Police were dispatched to Columbus Park shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, where there were reports of a vandalism incident, prompting an investigation that led to the arrest of 27-year-old city resident Emmanuel Santiago Batista, who allegedly destroyed the bust with a baseball bat.

In Yonkers, New York, a Columbus statue was beheaded on Aug. 30. Antifa vandals were also responsible for the destruction of the oldest Christopher Columbus monument in the nation on Aug. 21. Vandals left the messages "Racism: Tear it down" and "The future is racial and economic justice."
