Yonkers Convict’s Accomplice Busted In $3.5M ‘Shotgunning’ Scheme, Feds Say

An accomplice of a convicted Westchester man was charged in connection with a $3.5 million "shotgunning" scheme, said federal authorities who arrested him Sunday. Saoud "Sam" Rihan, 57, was a business partner of Yonkers resident Simon Curanaj, 63, who admitted last November that he and his associates used bogus information and simultaneous loan applications at multiple banks to fraudulently obtain home equity lines of credit -- a practice known as "shotgunning," U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said.

Shooters Of Police Officer In Westchester To Be Arraigned

Two men from New Rochelle have been indicted on attempted murder charges for their roles in the shooting of a Yonkers police officer last September. Jerry Reyes, 22, and Frank Valencia, 18, have been indicted on charges that include criminal possession of a weapon, attempted aggravated murder and assault for their roles in the shooting of Police Officer Kayla Maher last year.

Yonkers Man Among Two Nabbed With Drugs In Traffic Stop

A 33-year-old woman and a man from Westchester are facing a variety of drug charges after a traffic stop in Orange County. Troopers stopped a vehicle on Route 17 in the Town of Monroe for a violation of the vehicle and traffic law at about 1:10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23. The driver of the vehicle, 37-year-old Mykell Gray of Yonkers, was found to be in possession of marijuana and charged with criminal possession of marijuana and unlawful possession of marijuana.

Three Charged In Massive Cocaine, Heroin Bust In Yonkers

A trio was busted with more than a dozen kilograms of cocaine and nearly 20,000 envelopes of heroin in a Yonkers house. Man Charged In String Of Cab Robberies In Yonkers, Mount Vernon, Bronx

A Westchester man who committed a string of knife-point robberies and a car jacking of cab drivers was charged in Manhattan Federal court on Monday, according to Joon H. Kim, the Acting United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York. Mount Vernon resident Allanmon Mavumkal, 30, conducted a spree of robberies involving at least 10 livery cabs in the Bronx, Mount Vernon and Yonkers, during which he robbed the cab drivers of cash, personal items, and their cabs at knife-point, according to Kim.

Suspected Triggerman In Shooting Of Yonkers Officer Charged In Hospital

The suspected triggerman in the shooting of a Yonkers female police officer was charged Thursday in his hospital bed as he recovers from being by return fire in a shootout with police earlier this week. New Rochelle resident Frank Valencia, 18, was arraigned at Westchester Medical Center after he allegedly shot officer Kayla Maher in the jaw on Monday night during a shootout in the Park Hill section of Yonkers.

A Westchester bank teller was charged Wednesday with participating in a 2013 armed robbery of a Wells Fargo bank in Yonkers, according to Joon H. Man Sentenced In Fatal Doyle Park Shooting

A Westchester County man has been sentenced to a term of between 20 years and life in prison after pleading guilty to fatally shooting a man in Doyle Park when an attempted armed robbery went awry last year. Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Wednesday that 27-year-old Yonkers resident Robert Daniels has been sentenced after pleading guilty to a charge of second-degree murder in April.
