Charges Dropped Against Neurologist From Northern Westchester In $57M Case

Federal charges have been dropped against a Westchester County neurologist who was among six charged in an alleged $57 million health care fraud scheme that spanned more than a decade. The U.S. Attorney's Office has dropped the case against Emad Soliman, a New Castle resident who practices in Yonkers who had been charged in an alleged 12-year-scheme to "defraud Medicaid, Medicare and other private health insurance companies out of more than $50 million."

A New York State attorney has filed a class action lawsuit on behalf of people who were potentially exposed to hepatitis A at the restaurant bartaco in Port Chester, N.Y. Paul V. Nunes, a senior partner of Underberg and Kessler in Rochester, N.Y., filed the complaint on behalf of Yonkers, N.Y. resident Crystal Lopez, a bartaco patron who dined at the restaurant on Oct. 12. Lopez was advised by health officials to get a blood test and hepatitis A vaccine or Immune Globulin for treatment, like others who ate or drank at the popular spot between Oct. 12 and 23. "Everyone has a right to expect that the food they are served at a public restaurant is free on contaminants and is safe to eat," Nunes said this week.

Woman Sues Westchester Restaurant Over Hepatitis Exposure

A class action lawsuit has been filed against bartaco, the popular Port Chester restaurant that had to be temporarily closed down last week because of a potential Hepatitis A exposure that may have left customers vulnerable to the disease. A lawsuit was filed by a Rochester-based law firm on behalf of Yonkers resident Crystal Lopez and the thousands of people who were required to obtain a blood test and receive a vaccination for Hepatitis recently following the outbreak.

‘Breathe: Annie’s Song’ pays tribute to Yonkers teen

Friends of a Yonkers teen battling cystic fibrosis recorded a special acoustic version of "Breathe: Annie's Song" at The Loft recording studio in Bronxville Friday.
