Yonkers Motorist Cited After Driving Into Stone Wall In Bronxville

Police in Bronxville were able to track down a motorist from Yonkers after he drove through an intersection and struck a stone wall, causing "extensive damage" to a local building, according to police. At approximately 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, police were dispatched to Alden Place after multiple reports of a vehicle that had been driven straight through the intersection of Kraft and Midland Avenue, striking a stone wall and causing what was described by police as "extensive damage."

Enslaved Africans’ Rain Garden Exhibit On View at Sarah Lawrence College

Sarah Lawrence College will present "Artists Talk," a program in conjunction with an exhibit of artist Vinnie Bagwell's Enslaved Africans Rain Garden project, Thursday in the Reisinger Auditorium on campus in Bronxville. Bagwell and spoken word artist Ty Gray-EL will speak about the project that honors the enslaved Africans who resided at the historic Philipse Manor Hall in downtown Yonkers, six of whom were the first to be manumitted by law in the United States, 79 years before the Emancipation Proclamation, according to a release from Sarah Lawrence.

‘Breathe: Annie’s Song’ pays tribute to Yonkers teen

Friends of a Yonkers teen battling cystic fibrosis recorded a special acoustic version of "Breathe: Annie's Song" at The Loft recording studio in Bronxville Friday. The song was written and composed by Gaetano Annunziata and Mark Supik in an effort to keep up the spirits of Annie McMahon, 19, who had a long wait on the lung transplant list.

An 81-year-old Westchester woman was killed Saturday after a two-vehicle crash near a shopping center in the area of 2550 Central Park Ave. in Yonkers. Yonkers Police and Yonkers Fire units extricated the woman, an Ardsley resident who was a passenger in a Ford Focus, shortly after the crash, which occurred around 11 a.m. Emergency responders began CPR on the woman, who was subsequently transported to Lawrence Hospital in Bronxville, where she was pronounced deceased at 11:50 a.m. The Ford Focus was apparently travelling southbound on Central Park Avenue and appears to have been making a left hand turn into a shopping center parking lot when it made contact with the Chevy Tahoe, which was travelling northbound on Central Park Avenue.
