Parents sue Budget Division, SED over lost grants for…

Parents from Albany, Yonkers and New York City have filed suit against the state Budget Division and the State Education Department over the denial of portions of the so-called "Transformation Grants" intended to assist the state's "persistently struggling" schools. As the TU's Bethany Bump recently reported, the affected schools were initially placed on the list of persistently struggling schools, a move that allowed local superintendents wide latitude to address programs and policies within those institutions.
