FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Yonkers Arts And Yonkers Public Library Launch: ‘I AM a Hero: Comic Book Creation Workshop’
PRESS RELEASE: Yonkers Arts in partnership with the Yonkers Public Library for a #free five week virtual program, created by Evan Bishop; challenges up to fifteen student-heroes to create an authentic super hero that resembles themselves and uses their super powers to take on relative social issues that affects themselves and others
YONKERS: There is going to be a comic celebration of the cultural, physical and personal aspects that make youngsters in the city of hills unique
QUOTE: “The student-heroes will explore, empower and express who they are through the medium of comic book art, all while having fun with other such heroes,” says Evan Bishop.
The ‘I AM a Hero’ virtual program kicks off the first week of April, where pre-registered participants will log onto the designated online video conferencing platform for 90-minutes each week over a five week period.
They will learn, discuss and share the development of their hero.
For those that attend all five sessions and present their multi-paged comic book will receive a certificate of completion from Evan Bishop, founder and facilitator of the workshop.
And will be provided the opportunity to showcase their comic book cover as an exhibition in a gallery setting.

The intent behind this workshop is to encourage young people to express themselves and share unique ideas about issues that affect the larger society. Evan states, “As long a you are willing to use your imagination/creativity and share with the group, you will do fine in the workshop.”
