YONKERS TRIBUNE: BLUE TRUTH: Police Chase Leads to Gruesome Deaths
YONKERS, NY — DECEMBER 23, 2020 — On Tuesday, December 22, 2020, at 9:20 pm, a white 2009 Infiniti was spotted by the Yonkers Police Department at South Broadway and Prospect Street being driven “in an erratic manner”, better known as a VNT (Vehicle and Traffic Violation).

- Brian HarrodNeeca Gibbons, don’t you ever give up?nNeeca Gibbons, make your point that that you think that the families of these four teenagers killed in a #YPD involved pursuit dont deserve a free, open and transparent internal police investigation and then move on.And Neeca Gibbons, you can pretend not to know about the #Yonkers friends and family network and how it operates in #Yonkers, but you are not fooling any of the nearly 10,000 members of the Yonkers Newswire.Neeca Gibbons, I am not “blaming the police”, but I am saying there needs to be a fair, open and transparent investigation of this #YonkersPD involved deadly crash that slaughtered four kids.Neeca Gibbons, a reporter honestly seeking the truth is not seeking to be only “blaming the police”, it is merely asking for Police statement discrepancies to be explained to concerned public members.Neeca Gibbons, please take screen shots, but there is no desire to delete anything.Neeca Gibbons, people can see that there are a great many discrepancies in what the #YonkersPolice have told and released to the public.Neeca Gibbons, people also saw that you did not answer the question that asked…..Neeca Gibbons, why are you trying to obstruct a fair, open and transparent Yonkers Police Department investigation that brings out the truth and lets the chips fall where they may?

- Lauren Jamison HuberThis is inflammatory. It was horrific but it was the fault of the driver.Seek justice? Although doubtful that the driver had insurance but if he did go to the insurance company. To in any way fan the flames that a reasonable pursuit by police caused this driver with an unlawful history to drive in a way to avoid prosecution and then kill 4 people is the culpable variable here is irresponsible. Some dirtbag lawyers are probably already out there.I have nothing to “admit”.Police chase bad guys. Bad guys make bad decisions. Innocent people get hurt. The fault here is at the feet of that driver. That’s it.5

- Brian HarrodOh boy, you two just will not stop, I have been told the Yonkers Police Department the cars are equipped with #GPS, but the Yonkers PBA union wont allow GPS to be used.Ru Ros, it sort of like how Keith Olson would not allow #YonkersPD officers to wear body cameras for years even though there were free federal grants to give the #YPD body cameras when Barack Obama was in office.Ru Ros, you often to show up to cover a relative minor incident and find over a dozen police cars up a down the street as people post on the Yonkers Voice Central that they call for help from the #YonkersPolice repeatedly for assistance, with out getting the help they need.Ru Ros, this is because the police officers basically choose which calls they respond to and dispatch themselves.Ru Ros in efficient police departments the inexpensive #GPS units are installed and functioning and the police dispatchers can see exactly where the patrol cars are and can immediately dispatch them to exactly where they are needed.Ru Ros, right now a commercial burglar alarm, that ninety percent of the time turns out to be nothing, will get four cars responding while a complaint about a large escalating argument at the Whitney Young Housing Project wont get an officer that wants to take the call. But Ru Ros after that large escalating argument at the Whitney Young Housing Project turns into a stabbing or shooting, then over a dozen @Yonkers Police Department cars will show up.Ru Ros, in my opinion Keith Olson should allow functional GPS units in all of the YPD vehicles and let the dispatchers start choosing which officer responds to which call based on their availability and position – instead of letting individual officers say if they will take the call or not.Ru Ros, too many quality of life issues get ignored, because Keith Olson wont allow inexpensive #PS units that would let dispatchers immediately assign nearby officers to a resident’s call.Ru Ros, we don’t need over a dozen police cars to most of the exciting police scenes you cover for the Yonkers Voice.Ru Ros, we need that residents call to be answered ASAP and make sure that Yonkers taxpayers should not have to call multiple times for police assistance.

- Brian HarrodKeith Olson, I love the #YPD, but I think that it could be better managed to serve the residents of #Yonkers.Keith Olson, I do not agree with the Yonkers PBA opposing having functional GPS units in police vehicles.Nor, Keith Olson do I agree with the #YonkersPD administrators removing foot patrols in Getty Square and the Yonkers Downtown/Waterfront BID.And further, Keith Olson, I think it was foolish to diminish the #YonkersPolice to diminish the youth division and fold it into Yonkers Police Department community affairs publicity department.Especially, Keith Olson since the surge in violent crimes is mainly coming from youthful offenders. But, Keith Olson, just because I think there are some managerial problems doesn’t mean that I don’t appreciate or like the Yonkers Police Department.Keith Olson I even requested a support the Yonkers Police and Fire Department sign to place in my window, but I never got one.

Focusing on what the cop did or didn’t do has nothing to do with the fact some asshole was driving down one of our streets at a high rate of speed and killed 4 teenage kids who just graduated in June and had there whole life ahead of them. Focusing on the cop car takes away from the 4 teenagers and that’s not fair to them.

- Brian Harrod#SMH…. Omar Colon, what you fail to realize is that the Yonkers Police Department knew the person thet were chasing very well and had many encounters with him.#FACTS: Anthony Repetti they could have picked him up on the motor vehicle violation at any time and did not need to chase him into the car of these four #Yonkers kids – who won’t be home for Christmas tomorrow.Mary C McCrohan there are #YonkersPD sources that are saying the #YPD even knew #DevonHaywood, had the street name “Telz”.Lauren Jamison Huber the Yonkers Police Department even put out a statement that he had a history of reckless driving in #Yonkers.Omar Colon the truth is #YonkersPolice sources say they knew “Telz” well and that he served four years in federal prison after pleading guilty to selling 5 grams of crack cocaine in 2005 and had been on probation in the city of hills.Anthony Repetti one police sources says that in 2018 “Telz” pleaded guilty to a drug possession charge and was sentenced to do a year in the #WestchesterCounty jail and might of fled, because he feared a late night curfew parole violation that would have sent him back to jail..Mary C McCrohan I am also told that the Yonkers Police Department knew “Telz” very well, because he had lived at various addresses in Yonkers, where all of his criminal activity occurred.Lauren Jamison Huber, the Yonkers Police Department, for some reason, is trying to make it out that they had no clue who this #MountVernon resident was. When in fact the Mount Vernon address is that of a relative.Omar Colon, it is strange that the @Yonkers Police Department has not released the exact equipment viiolations that lead to these four kids tragic deaths and this have caused some to question if “Telz” was even stopped legally.Anthony Repetti they did not find drugs at the crash scene and soon the #WestchesterCounty medical examiner’s autopsy report will tell us if “Telz” was intoxicated at the time of the traffic stop.Mary C McCrohanfor all we know “Telz” could have been running, because he feared a Yonkers Police Departmentass beating, but I highly doubt that.Lauren Jamison Huber this is why it is important fotr the Yonkers Police Department to release recordings of the police radio recordings, before and during the high speed police pursuit, as well as, the police radio recordings at the deadly crash scene.1

- Brian HarrodMary C McCrohan, the Yonkers Police Department is being so dishonest in this #YonkersPD police involved crash, that killed four kids, they wont even say what was the “equipment violation” was that lead to these #Yonkers teens funerals.Mary C McCrohan, there is a chance that there was not even an equipment violation.PEW CHARITABLE TRUST: Police ‘Pretext’ Traffic Stops Need to End, Some Lawmakers SayOn a family vacation in Virginia in 2017, Democratic Maryland state Del. Charles E. Sydnor III was driving in the left lane on a nearly empty, unfamiliar highway when a state trooper pulled him over.Sydnor’s wife and three daughters — ages 9, 10 and 13 — were in the car.“Are you going to jail?” one of his girls asked. The trooper said Sydnor, who is Black, had been driving too slowly. A new Virginia law made driving slowly in the left lane a primary offense, meaning an officer could pull over and ticket the motorist.Sydnor, then 44, explained he was following his sister and her family in the car ahead and was about to make a left turn. He had seen a 45 mph speed limit sign in a school zone so had slowed down from 55.The trooper proceeded to educate Sydnor on the law, saying the speed limit was 45 only if the sign’s lights were flashing, which they were not. White officers stopping Black motorists for routine traffic violations can have deadly results for Black men, and Sydnor’s mind flashed to how this one might go horribly wrong. The trooper “had this attitude. It felt as though he wanted to show he was in charge in front of my wife and daughters,” Sydnor said in an interview. “I wasn’t disrespectful to him. He didn’t need to talk to me like that.”….https://www.pewtrusts.org/…/police-pretext-traffic…

- Keith OlsonMore inflammatory, misleading bullshit. No surprise that you teamed up with that other low life blogger on this one. On one hand you want to blame the police but then cry for an open and fair investigation. As usual you jump to your own anti-police conclusions. When the investigation is over you’ll be disappointed to know that you there was no pursuit. Yes, Haywood ran from the police but the police were not in pursuit. That’s why they were shown on video a full 15 seconds behind the suspect vehicle. Think about that for a second. If there was a pursuit, how can a car get a 15 second gap on the police car in only a few blocks. Count out 15 seconds and think about that. You know why there was a 15 second gap? Because there was no pursuit. Sorry Brian, you’re wrong again. To try and push your anti-YPD narrative using the incredibly tragic death of four teenagers is low even by your standards. Shame on you.12

- Keith OlsonAnother thing, Devon Haywood has a history of fleeing the police. You know how I know? Because he ran on me in 2006. When I pulled him over he fled so fast I was amazed and horrified at the same time. We gave up on the pursuit almost immediately for fear he would kill someone. We tracked him down later and arrested him for Reckless Endangerment. Not too long after that, he was a subject of an investigation we did with the FBI targeting violent gang members. We arrested him on federal drug conspiracy charges and he was sentenced to 5 years in federal prison. There is one person to blame here and that is Devon Haywood.15

- Brian HarrodKeith Olson my wife is getting upset with me, because someone called me during her Christmas Eve dinner to tell me that you are commenting in this thread.Keith Olson, these Yonkers Police Department zealous yahoos, like Lauren Jamison Huber, on social media are going to have me sleeping on the couch this Christmas eve.Keith Olson, I and just about everyone in #Yonkers 100% agrees with you that this #DevonHaywood‘s choices caused the death of these teenagers and it seems to be coming out that he had a troubled pastBut, Keith Olson people are also concerned that the Yonkers Police Department engaging in a dangerous high speed chase over an alleged minor violation against a person that you and other #YonkersPD members had known for at least 15 years had a history of running from the #YPD played a role in the death of these kids that were slaughtered.Keith Olson from what you have told me and from what others have said, it appears that this guy should have possibly not been driving on the road. But Keith Olson, it still doesn’t negate the fact that the #YonkersPolice did not initially mention the police chase until a day after witness complained about it social media. Then Keith Olson, there is the problem that the Yonkers Police Department tried to pretend that this was some unknown guy from #MountVernon that could have been a murderer or some other dangerous person, when you and they knew him very well. Then Keith Olson you have the heavily edited gas station crash video that is looped over and over for 30 seconds instead of just sharing the raw video showing the police car arriving less than 15 seconds after the crash. Then Keith Olson, there are all of these very nasty police supporters being jerks all over websites and social media pages attacking people for just asking asking questions or reporting on the tragedy that has visited these four families. And Keith Olson on top of that the Yonkers Police Department wont even say what was the “equipment violation” that led to these four teens unnecessary deaths.Keith Olson, is like a chapter out of “How Not To Handle A Transparent Internal Police Investigation 101”Keith Olson I have never not shared anything from the Yonkers PBA or the Yonkers Police Department, but I still have an obligation to share items from other voices who question police actions in the the city of hills.Keith Olson, there has never been a time that if I was misled or got something wrong in the Yonkers Newswire, that I did not make a correction and apologize.Keith Olson, I wish you and yours a Merry Christmas and I assure you that I will continue to publish any Yonkers Police Department press release, statement or event directly to the 10,000 Yonkers households at the Yonkers Newswire.3

- Brian HarrodJohn Contrino, reading is fundamental.John Contrino, you can’t show one post or comment in any thread in the Yonkers Newswire that says that he driver of the Infiniti is somehow not responsible.John Contrino, the problem is the Yonkers Police Department took a day to admit that there had been a #YonkersPD pursuit of the Infiniti over and alleged and unnamed “equipment violation”.John Contrino, the #YPD publicity machine initially tried to make it appear that they did not know who this potentially dangerous mystery driver from #MountVernon was, but it later came out that the #YonkersPolice had over decade long history with the suspect. And John Contrino, the suspect is reported to have ran from Yonkers PBA President Keith Olson in the past. But for some reason John Contrino you and others are seeking to obstruct or block a fair, open and transparent investigation of this police involve deadly crash that slaughtered four innocent #Yonkers teens.John Contrino, what’s wrong with having a fair, open and transparent Yonkers Police Department investigation of this police involve deadly crash – that allows residents in the city of hills to see all of the videos and hear all of the related police radio transmissions, as well as the officers name and history in the department.John Contrino, if the Yonkers Police Department truly cares about these kids being slaughtered on Riverdale Avenue, they will conduct fair, open and transparent investigation of this police involve deadly crash and not hold anything back.John Contrino, why are you afraid to let the chips fall where they may and seeking to force these four grieving families to go through great legal expense to get the truth from a judge?John Contrino, if that was your child dead in the street you would not be posting this crap trying to make points with those in The City of Yonkers, who want this to be covered up and forgotten in a week or so.

- Brian HarrodRu Ros, no one is arguing that the Infinity was not speeding and out running the police. That is not the issue.Ru Ros, the 32 second video you are sharing is the same manipulated and looped #YPD video that shows the guy keeping getting into his SUV over and over.Ru Ros, was is needed is the raw unedited video that shows when and how the #YonkersPD arrived on the scene, instead of cutting the video just before the police cruder flys into the scene.Ru Ros I am told that the Yonkers Police Department showed up at the crash scene seconds after the car, these kids were in, was spit in half.Ru Ros, for the #YonkersPolice to substitute a cherry picked video far from the crash scene where the pursuing police vehicle is trailing, because the officer slows down in intersection in an effort not to be T-Boned is an inadequate substitute.Ru Ros, witnesses say the Yonkers Police Department officer arrived with in seconds as the police did not even acknowledge a pursuit a day later.Ru Ros, why is the Yonkers Police Department refusing to show the #yonkers residents the part of the gas station video that actually shows when and how the officer actually showed up at the crash scene?

- Ru RosI have been in many crime scenes and talked to multiple eye-witness: Very often each eyewitnesses gives you a different story for the same incident.

- Brian HarrodRu Ros, i agree that it is easy for some witnesses to get confused, but they all seem to agree that the @Yonkers Police Department was on top of catastrophic crash scene with in seconds.Ru Ros don’t you find it a little bit curious the #YPD will allow a manipulated and looped horrific and deadly crash crash video, but wont allow the raw unedited footage that actually shows when and how the #YonkersPD cruiser arrived?Ru Ros, why wont the Yonkers Police Department administrators simply release the video and clear up the matter instead spending days and days and days trying to trash this Yonkers Newswire news tread about a Yonkers Tribune news story?Ru Ros do you think the #YonkersPolice should the raw unedited video that actually shows when and how the #YonkersPD cruiser arrived?

- Ru RosBrian Harrod I have been at the exact location many times to cover Police activity, I don’t know if you know that there a Police Precinct less then a block from that exact location and there is always cruisers in and out of the precinct.

- Ru RosBrian Harrod An Investigation just started. Often, Police Dept don’t speak about on-going investigation.Personally, I do not think that there was a hot pursuit and for sure, no shots were fired. In my opinion, the blame for this, is the driver of the Infinity.

- Brian HarrodRu Ros, I do realize that and it takes time to run out to a police cruiser start it up the police cruiser, turn on to the street and race down the street to an accident scene.Ru Ros, this can not be done in less than 15 seconds.

- Ru RosBrian Harrod Not necessarily: There is always cruisers in and out of the precinct.Brian: Numbers don’t lie, the video shows that the police cruiser was about 15s behind the infinity, if there was a hot pursuit, the separation between the Honda and the cruiser would have been much less.
