PEOPLE POWER: Mayor Mike Spano pushed the police union to accept body cameras after multiple Black Lives Matter Protests on the streets of Yonkers

CANDID CAMERA: On Thursday the Yonkers Police Department will give some patrol officers body cameras.

ITS JUST A TEST: Yonkers will conduct a three-month pilot program with 16 body cams from Axon.

MEDIA ALERT: Mayor Mike Spano, YPD Commissioner John Mueller and Yonkers PBA Union president Keith Olson will explain how the the program will be implimented and work at a press conference on Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. .

Westchester County’s largest city police department is starting to make reforms after it was confronted by 1,000 Black Lives Matter protesters after the murder of a handcuffed George Floyd by police officers in Minneapolis.

The murder sparked protests and calls for police reform across the country and in Yonkers.
