A 24-year-old Yonkers man held in the shooting of an NYPD officer this week has an arrest history and criminal warrants in New Jersey.
Ajani Jones of Yonkers, is charged with first-degree attempted murder of a police officer in the shooting about 10:30 p.m. Tuesday after a traffic stop in the city, authorities said.
Police said Jones ran from police after they pulled him over on Lafayette Avenue near White Plains Road. An officer fired one shot and Jones fired four times, striking a 31-year-old officer in the lower back.
