YOU’RE FIRED: Empire City Casino Terminates 1,100 Jobs In Yonkers – By Brian Harrod

Previously the 1,100 employees of the casino were furloughed in May and employees were given the opportunity to keep their health insurance until August 31 and were just now let go.

YONKERS – Empire City Casino, operated by MGM Resorts, suspended operations in March due to the pandemic and had expected to reopen on March 28.  On Friday, the 1,100 employees that had been furloughed learned that they were being terminated by MGM.

On Friday, MGM announced that the 1,100 employees at Empire City are being terminated along with thousands more MGM workers across the country. 

The now terminated employees will be keeping their health benefits through the end of September.
