The 10701 zip code has been become a swath of #Yonkers that has been ensnared by the virus.

As of early May, more than a quarter of cases–1,948–had come from that section of the city.

The next highest number of cases came from the 10705 zip code with 1,302 cases.
As of Tuesday, there were 6,522 cases in the city.

Mayor Mike Spano said the hardest hit neighborhoods are in west and southwest Yonkers, which are the most densely populated sections of the city and have a high Latino population that has documented and undocumented residents.

#MayorSpano said breaking down the number of cases by zip code is a necessity to slow the virus’ spread.

Once the city had firm numbers, they informed state officials who set up a testing site, within walking distance for residents who live in the 10701 zip code, #MikeSpano said.
